Call Us! We won't think you're a bumbling fool. You're not being a bother. Its part of our job.
As with anything complex, computers can be frustrating. Losing or forgetting your password is one of the worst things that can happen. However, regardless of what you might think, even IS staff occasionally misplace a password somewhere in the brain and it becomes eternally lost. No one is infallible in this respect.
If you lose your password, call IS. For AS400 passwords, Chuck or Kerry (#2 or #1 on the voice menu) are the primary contacts to correct your problem. Others may be able to help you also.
Here is what we do:
When you call, we'll ask you what your AS400 ID is. For security reasons we may ask you other questions. If they seem odd, they aren't. We're just trying to verify who you are before we crack open your account. We'll log in and change your password to "CAT" but we'll also set the password to immediately expire. Obviously, if you were allowed to keep your "CAT" password, that would not be secure at all. So, when you log in for the first time after we change it, it will require you to change the password. Make sure you change it to something that has at least 6 characters total and at least one of those characters is a number.
