If you wish to have an E-Mail address you must ask your building principal or supervisor. All e-mail address applications are reviewed and approved by the building principal or their proxy. In most cases it is the principal that will grant or deny the application for an e-mail address. In some cases in may be the media person. In other cases it may be the assistant principal. In any case, you must contact the person that does the approval.
Depending on the school or department you may simply supply the requested information to the approving person. That person will go to the Internet E-Mail Account Request form on the Information Systems web page and fill in the fields with the requested information. Or, you may use the Internet E-Mail Account Request form yourself if that is standard procedure. Find out from your principal what is to be done.
The information you supply to the approving person will be the following:
Once your request is approved and the account created, Information Systems will send the username and password back to the approving person. That person will then print or write down the username/password combination and give it to you.Your First Name
Your Last NameYour first middle and last initials
The telephone extension where you can be reached
Where your office or classroom exists
Your job title or function within the corporation
Your address will be in the form of [your three initials]@vigoschools.org. If your initials are already in use, a sequencial number may be assigned. Do not advertise what you think your address will be until you get the information back from Information Systems.
Your password will be a set of between 4 and 8 characters. If you don't like your password or you have suspicions your account security has been compromised, you may put in a request to have it changed at any time. This is done via the Computer Service Request System (access from the IT page). Because of security and operational difficulties, users are not allowed to pick their passwords. We have created a program to generate a password for you and keep track of it.
